West Indies have officially become the first team to qualify for the Super Eights in ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has reached the halfway mark with only one team confirming its spot in the Super Eights. Although there continues to be tough competition in Groups A, B, and D, Group C on February 15 saw the West Indies confirm their spot in the Super 8s following their nine-wicket win against Nepal at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

After opting to field first, the West Indies invited Nepal to put the score on the board. With brilliant bowling from Jason Holder, who claimed four wickets, the Windies side restricted Nepal to 133/8 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, a 44-ball unbeaten 61 from skipper Shai Hope and an unbeaten 46 from Shimron Hetmyer guided West Indies to a convincing win in 15.2 overs. As a result, the West Indies progressed into the Super 8s, whereas Nepal was officially eliminated from the tournament with one more match left for them.

Qualification scenario in Group C of T20 World Cup 2026

Speaking of the qualification scenario after the 25th match of the T20 World Cup, the fight for second spot remains between England, Scotland, and Italy. England, who have played 3 matches and will play Italy on February 16, require only one win to confirm their spot, as they sit in second place with two wins and one defeat.

However, Scotland and Italy’s qualification into the Super Eight remains doubtful; the Scottish men also require a solitary win. With only one game remaining and England in second place, their chances look bleak. On the other hand, Italy, who are placed fourth in the Group C standings, have two games left and have so far won one and lost one game.
