Domestic career
Tim David debuted in Twenty20 cricket for Perth Scorchers during the 2017–18 Big Bash League (BBL) season before joining Hobart Hurricanes for the 2020–21 BBL season, where he made a memorable start with a game-changing 58 runs in the opening match. He ventured into the Pakistan Super League (PSL), representing Lahore Qalandars in 2021 and Multan Sultans in subsequent seasons. David also showcased his talents in European leagues, participating in the Hoofdklasse tournament in the Netherlands and later signing with Surrey County Cricket Club for the 2021 T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup. He made headlines by being drafted by Southern Brave for The Hundred’s inaugural season and later signed by Lancashire County Cricket Club for the 2022 T20 Blast. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), David made history as the first international player from Singapore, featuring initially for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2021 and later for Mumbai Indians in 2022. International career
In July 2019, Tim David was selected for the Singapore cricket team’s training squad in preparation for the Regional Finals of the 2018–19 ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier tournament. Subsequently, he earned a spot in Singapore’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the same tournament. David made his T20I debut against Qatar on 22 July 2019. Later in September 2019, he was included in Singapore’s squad for the 2019 Malaysia Cricket World Cup Challenge League A tournament, where he made his List A debut against Qatar and emerged as the leading run-scorer with 369 runs in five matches. In October 2019, David was named in Singapore’s squad for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament in the United Arab Emirates, with the International Cricket Council (ICC) identifying him as the player to watch.
In 2022, David was selected for the Australian national cricket team’s squad for the 2022 World Cup and their series against India. Despite previously representing Singapore, he was eligible to play for Australia under ICC regulations. He made his T20I debut for Australia against India on 20 September 2022 and showcased his talent by scoring 54 runs off 27 balls in a match against India in Hyderabad.
