WATCH Tim David hammer Axar Patel in brutal Chinnaswamy cameo

Tim David played the role of a finisher to perfection on Thursday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Coming in to bat with RCB in trouble, David ensured that the hosts had a competitive total batting first against the Delhi Capitals. The Australian powerhouse took a toll on Axar Patel and Mukesh Kumar to take RCB to 163/7.

Tim David came into bat in the 13th over, with RCB struggling at 102/5. The former MI superstar took his time initially, trying to take the game deep as Delhi bowlers ran riot. Even as the Australian lost wickets at the other end, he kept his cool waiting for his moment to arrive.

Come the 18th over, David decided to target DC skipper Axar Patel. The RCB death overs specialist smashed the first ball of the over for a six, following it up with another boundary and six. David took 17 off the over, before tonking Mukesh Kumar for 19 in the final over. He eventually finished with 37 off 20 balls, with two boundaries and four sixes. After Dinesh Karthik retired, RCB turned to Tim David to fill their vacancy. The Australian has done his job when called upon, scoring 92 runs in just 47 balls played this season. His strike rate is a mind-boggling 195.74. David has the most runs in overs 16-20 since IPL 2022. His strike rate in this period is just a shade lower than Karthik, who struck it at 195.17.
