Welcome to our special segment, DRS or the Daily Review System. In this, InsideSport will provide you with the top cricket stories from a day before that you might have missed in the hustle and bustle of your busy life.

A day that will be remembered for Rohit Sharma‘s brilliance will also be remembered as a day, when the Indian team lost yet another series under coach Gautam Gambhir. Upon failing to chase down 388 at Lord’s the visiting side lost the series 1-2, thus ending their UK tour with 8 losses and only 1 win in 10 played. But perhaps the only good thing to come out of all this is, Rohit is not retiring from ODIs and international cricket.

Rohit Sharma makes a statement with 138

No words were spoken about retirement, just a big statement with the bat. Rohit Sharma went on to slam his 34th ODI ton — 138 from 110 deliveries — to show all his critics, that he can still do the job for his team; age is not a constraint for the 39-year-old. He became the first from the country to hit an ODI century at Lord’s.

DRS 2

10 matches, only 1 win for Gambhir’s team

But then questions will be asked. About the the team’s form across formats. First we lost the Ireland T20Is 0-2, then the England T20Is 0-4, and now the ODIs 1-2. That just culminates one of Team India’s worst ever performance on foreign shores. Bowling was poor, and batting shone only in patches. That also further spoils Gautam Gambhir’s record as Team India’s head coach.

Shubman Gill moving towards big injury?

Skipper Shubman Gill has been sublime in the ODIs — scoring 6 fifty plus scores in his last 6 innings. But his fitness appears to be a major concern. The 27-year-old seems to be facing some hamstring issue — due to which he had to retire hurt from the 1st ODI at 80, and then needed medical attention during his knock of 77 on Sunday as well, raising questions over his fitness.

DRS 4

Indian bowling attack nothing without Jasprit Bumrah

Indian ace Bumrah was not around for the 3rd ODI, due to a knee issue. That meant — Axar Patel, Gurnoor Brar, Prince Yadav, Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna were entrusted with the duty of bowling. But in return they all failed. Brar gave away 97 runs in his 10, Axar gave away 61, Prince 79, Prasidh 69 and Arshdeep 72.

DRS 5

Ben Duckett gets highest score at Lord’s

Opener Ben got his 4th ODI ton, as he plundered 141 in 135 deliveries at Lord’s. It was a ton that gave the team the early momentum, to go on to score a big total, and put the Indian batters under pressure. And that is exactly what happened; in the chase after the 40th over, the Indians buckled under pressure and lost wickets.

DRS 6

Sam Curran too good for Indian batters

Curran turned out to be the nemesis for the Indian team, when they looked on course to chasing down 388. In the last few overs, the left-arm pacer went on to pick 4 crucial wickets; most importantly he was difficult to get away, as he varied his pace brilliantly. For someone who bowls at 130 kmph regularly, he brought his pace as low as 70 kmph, which was tough to negotiate.
