BCCI VP Rajeev Shukla had a golden advice for the Team India stars, not just in the context of the situation involving Rohit, but otherwise as well.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla has advised the members of the Indian cricket team to stay away from social media. His remarks come ahead of the ENG vs IND 3rd ODI and amid the buzz around Rohit Sharma‘s retirement. Earlier this week, a report claimed that the Hitman could possibly announce his retirement after the Lord’s ODI on Sunday, which forced the BCCI to issue a clarification while also asking the selectors to stay mum. Ahead of the series decider, Shukla had a golden advice for the Team India stars, not just in the context of the situation involving Rohit, but otherwise as well.

Team India asked to avoid social media

Speaking at an event held at the Indian High Commission in London on Saturday, the BCCI vice-president pointed out that most people in India thought of themselves as cricket experts and hence passed their opinions freely. He advised the Indian cricket team, who were in attendance at the High Commission for the event, to avoid the usage of social media, while pointing out that there was no dearth of talent in the team.

In India, the problem is that 99 percent of the people are experts in cricket… so just try to avoid social media. There’s no dearth of talent in Team India, they are full of talent,” Shukla said at the event.

Shukla’s statement comes at a time when the social media is flooded with discussions on Rohit Sharma’s future. Various sections of fans and experts are warring over reports that have claimed that the Hitman’s career could be coming to an end soon as the selectors have decided to move on from him. Despite the BCCI secretary issuing a clarification, the debate goes on unbated.

At the event on Saturday, captain Shubman Gill spoke about how he dealt with pressure and revealed that he keeps himself away from external factors while focusing on what was under his control.

“The way I deal with pressure is by keeping focussed on the things that are in my control and keep myself away from the external factors,” said Gill
