Catch all the details you need to know for the upcoming Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 that is scheduled to start on July 17.

After missing 2025, the Lanka Premier League (LPL) is ready to entertain fans around the world. The sixth edition of the LPL is set to get underway on July 17, 2026. Defending champions Jaffna Kings will open the tournament against Galle Gallants at Colombo’s SSC Cricket Ground.

LPL 2026 will run for just over three weeks, from July 17 to August 8. The organizers have also kept August 9 as a reserve day in case the final needs to be pushed. Five franchises are in the mix this year. Along with Jaffna Kings and Galle Gallants, the league also has Colombo Kaps, Kandy Royals and Dambulla Sixers.

In total there will be 24 games across 22 days. The league stage is simple. Each team plays the other four twice in a double round-robin, which gives us 20 matches before the knockouts. From there the top teams go into the playoffs, and the final is scheduled for August 8 in Colombo. The action won’t stay in one city. Four venues will host games this season. SSC in Colombo gets the first five matches from July 17 to 19. After that the tournament moves to Dambulla and then to Pallekele in Kandy. The last leg, including the playoffs and final, comes back to Colombo.

Now, before the tournament starts, let us look at the squads, schedule, timings, live streaming and all the other details you need to know.
