Ashutosh Sharma will represent Hampshire County Cricket Club in the upcoming One-Day Cup 2026. The 27-year-old has experience of playing cricket in England, having represented the Middlesex Titans in 2017, Gravesend in 2022 and 2023, and Wigan in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition in 2025.
Ashutosh Sharma to play One-Day Cup
Originally from Madhya Pradesh, Ashutosh now represents Railways in domestic cricket. After getting inconsistent chances for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, the batting all-rounder featured for the Malwa Stallions in the 2026 Madhya Pradesh T20.
With an empty space in the domestic calendar, Ashutosh will play for Hampshire, who are owned by the Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao (GMR) Group, who co-own DC and other franchises like the Dubai Capitals (ILT20), Pretoria Capitals (SA20), Seattle Orcas (MLC), and Southern Brave (The Hundred).
“We’re really pleased to sign Ashutosh for the One-Day Cup. He is a player of great potential and has done well for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL recently, so he knows what it’s like to perform to a high standard. We look forward to welcoming him into the group and seeing what he can do in a Hampshire shirt as we look to go one step further than last year in the competition,” Giles White, Director of Cricket at Hampshire, said.
It makes perfect sense for him to play for his IPL franchise. Other than Ashutosh, Yuzvendra Chahal will also play in the One-Day Cup for the Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. As for Hampshire, they’ll commence their title contention against Yorkshire at Scarborough on July 21.
