T20 World Cup 2026 Format
- Group Stage: 20 teams are divided into four groups (A, B, C, D) of five teams each. Each team plays the other four teams in its group once in a round-robin format (4 matches per team, total 40 group matches). The top two teams from each group advance to the Super 8 stage (8 teams total).
- Super 8 Stage: Top 2 from each of the four groups are placed into two groups of four (Group X and Group Y). Placement uses pre-determined seeding based on ICC rankings and performance (e.g., India (X1), Australia (X2), West Indies (X3), South Africa (X4) in one group; England (Y1), New Zealand (Y2), Pakistan (Y3), Sri Lanka (Y4) in the other). Qualifiers replace seeded teams if needed. Each team plays the other three in its Super 8 group once.
- Knockout Stage: The top two teams from each Super 8 group advance to the semi-finals (1 vs 2 from opposite groups), with winners meeting in the final.
