Tim David proves he’s best IPL 2025 auction buy by RCB, saves them from embarrasement

Tim David has scored 142 runs at a strike rate of almost 200 so far at IPL 2025.

With nine wickets down for just 64, Royal Challengers Bengaluru were staring down the barrel of humiliation. In a rain-shortened 14-over clash against Punjab Kings at the Chinnaswamy, the memories of their infamous 49 all-out threatened to resurface. But Tim David had other plans. His unbeaten 50 off 26 balls wasn’t just a rescue act—it was a declaration.

Tim David’s best IPL knock

On a night when RCB’s other ten batters combined for just 44 runs, David stood tall to hammer 50 runs off 26 alone. Remember he was picked up for just Rs 3 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction! Bargain stuff.

The surface wasn’t easy, and Punjab’s bowlers made life tougher. Marco Jansen and Yuzvendra Chahal bowled unchanged spells, choking RCB’s top and middle order with smart variations. The scoreboard read 36/5 at one point, with batters falling to mistimed slogs and mistreated short balls. But amid the chaos, David brought calm and calculation.

RCB were 74/9 when David took strike for the final over. What followed was a brutal exhibition of power-hitting. Harpreet Brar was dispatched for three consecutive sixes, and a front-foot no-ball allowed David the chance to bring up his half-century in style. The final three legal deliveries of the innings fetched 21 runs, lifting RCB to a competitive 95/9 and bringing the crowd back to life.

Final Over Breakdown (Harpreet Brar):

13.56Rocked back, pulled to cow corner
13.66+nbCarved over deep cover on a no-ball
