FIH Hockey World Cup 2023: The 2023 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup, organized by the International Hockey Federation, will be hosted in India. This is the 15th edition of the Men’s World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men’s national field hockey teams.
The World Cup will be hosted at Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. All the matches will be played at the 20,000-seater Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela and the iconic Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. India will welcome hockey lovers from around the world to watch the event from January 13 to 29, 2023.
Defending Champions
Belgium are the defending champions having won the 2018 edition of the Men’s Hockey World Cup, also hosted in India. In the final, Belgium defeated Netherlands in a 3-2 penalty shootout.
Tournament Draw
A total of 16 teams participated in the World Cup. The teams have been divided into four pools, in a draw that took place on September 08, 2022.
Pool A: Argentina, Australia, France and South Africa
Pool B: Belgium, Germany, Japan and Korea
Pool C: Chile, Malaysia, Netherlands and New Zealand.
Pool D: England, India, Spain and Wales.
