Canada cricket team have named their 15-memner squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 on April 2. This will be the maiden edition for Canada as they have qualified first time in the T20 World Cup tournament.
Canada is set to make its debut in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, with all-rounder Saad Bin Zafar, originally from Pakistan, leading the team in this significant event held in the Americas.
The team, primarily composed of players of Indian and Pakistani descent, is placed in Group A alongside co-hosts USA, India, Pakistan, and Ireland.
Canada’s opening match is scheduled against the US in Dallas on June 1, followed by matches against Ireland on June 7, Pakistan on June 11, and India on June 15.
In October last year, Canada secured a spot in the ICC T20 World Cup by defeating Bermuda in the ICC T20 World Cup Americas Region Final, which followed a double round-robin format.
Despite previous attempts, Canada hadn’t qualified for the global event in the eight previous editions of the T20 World Cup.
