In 2010, Sachin Tendulkar became the first male batter to score a double century in one-day internationals. Since then, nine more double hundreds have been scored in ODIs. Five Indian batters have seven double hundreds to their names.
Rohit Sharma is the only Indian batter to score three double hundreds in ODIs. He also has the highest score by a batsman in ODIs – 264 vs Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in 2014. Before Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan was the last batter to score a double hundred in ODIs. He smashed 210 runs against Bangladesh in Chattogram in December 2022.
