Domestic career
Anrich Nortje’s cricketing journey has seen him represent various teams across different T20 tournaments. He featured for Eastern Province in the 2016 Africa T20 Cup and was part of Cape Town Blitz’s squad in the inaugural Mzansi Super League T20 tournament. In the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL), he was initially signed by Kolkata Knight Riders but was ruled out due to a shoulder injury. Later, he joined the Cape Town Blitz for the 2019 Mzansi Super League. In 2020, he joined St Lucia Zouks for the Caribbean Premier League but missed out due to travel issues. He then replaced Chris Woakes in Delhi Capitals for the 2020 IPL. Nortje made headlines during the tournament for bowling the fastest delivery in IPL history at 156.22 km/h. He continued his domestic commitments with Eastern Province and was also selected for the Washington Freedom squad for Major League Cricket in the USA in March 2023.

International career
In February 2019, he earned a spot in South Africa’s One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against Sri Lanka, making his ODI debut on March 3, 2019. Despite being named in the Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the same series, he withdrew due to injury. He was later selected for South Africa’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup but was replaced by Chris Morris due to a hand injury sustained on May 7, 2019. In August 2019, he was included in South Africa’s Test and T20I squads for their series against India, debuting in both formats against India in September and October 2019 respectively. Notably, in January 2020, he achieved his maiden five-wicket haul in Test cricket against England. He received a national contract from Cricket South Africa in March 2020. Subsequently, he was named in South Africa’s squads for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and the 2023 Cricket World Cup, but had to withdraw from the latter due to injury.
