Nepal Team Bio

Nepal’s cricket journey has been one of remarkable growth and passion. Emerging from humble beginnings in the mid-2000s, the team earned Associate status and steadily climbed the ranks through strong performances in regional qualifiers and ICC events. Their T20I breakthrough came with qualification for the 2014 T20 World Cup, where they stunned fans by winning two group matches, including against Afghanistan and Hong Kong. After a decade-long absence, Nepal returned in 2024, pushing powerhouses like South Africa and Bangladesh close in narrow defeats, highlighting their potential.

Led by young captain Rohit Paudel, the side blends experienced stars like leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane (a key wicket-taker) and explosive all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee with emerging talents. The team’s all-round depth, spin bowling strength, and enthusiastic fanbase make them a dangerous underdog.

Under Australian coach Stuart Law, Nepal focuses on adapting to subcontinental conditions, aggressive batting, and disciplined bowling. In 2026, playing all group matches at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium, they aim to upset established teams and inspire a new generation in Nepal. With a fearless “nothing to lose” mindset, the Rhinos seek their first Super 8 qualification and a historic breakthrough on the global stage.
