Rohit Sharma has joined the elite club of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni by completing his 50th match as India’s ODI captain. He becomes the eighth Indian to achieve this milestone, joining the ranks of legends like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Sachin Tendulkar.
MS Dhoni holds the record for leading India in the most ODI matches and is among the most successful captains, having won an ODI World Cup title. Virat Kohli also captained Team India in 95 matches before handing over the leadership to Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma set to break a record of Sourav Ganguly
Rohit would surpass Ganguly’s record and become India’s fourth most successful skipper in international cricket if the country defeats England in the second ODI. As Indian captain, Rohit has won 97 of 135 games in all formats thus far. With 97 victories in 195 games for India, Ganguly concluded his time as captain.
Rohit Sharma has won one ICC trophy, securing the T20 World Cup 2024, but missed out on the ODI World Cup 2023, finishing as the runner-up.
