While several Indian stars played the sixth round of the Ranji Trophy, the biggest star is yet to make his domestic return. Virat Kohli, who last featured for his state team Delhi way back in 2012, is ready to dazzle India’s premier domestic tournament. He is set to play the last league match against the Railways on January 30 and the modern-day great has begun training as well. Interestingly, a recent video showed Kohli training and giving his fans something to cherish for a lifetime during a session in Mumbai under the guidance of former India all-rounder and batting coach Sanjay Bangar.
Virat Kohli signing autographs & refining skills
There is a video going viral on social media where Virat Kohli is giving his autograph to a couple of people, seemingly individuals who took part in the training session. The practice took place in Mumbai, where even Sanjay Bangar was present. The former Punjab Kings (PBKS) support staff member has seen the best years of Kohli with a close watch. Bangar was India’s batting coach from 2014 to 2019 and under his tenure, Kohli dominated all the batting charts.
But the 2025 version of Kohli has been coming up after a horrendous year as a batter, where he managed just 655 runs at a career-worst average of 21.83. The entire Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) was hyped up for him but Kohli got out in the same fashion—edging outside off-stump—again and again. Now, in his recent training session, one could imagine that Kohli would’ve talked about the issue with Bangar, who has previously helped Kohli as well. You can watch the video below.

A rare Ranji Trophy appearance before white-ball season
For those unaware, Kohli was supposed to play the January 23 Ranji Trophy fixture for Delhi but a neck sprain ruled him out of contention. But now he is looking ready to roll out his gaurd before a rare Ranji Trophy appearance. Interestingly, the match would end on February 2, a few days before India will begin their 3-match ODI series against England. Kohli, obviously part of the ODI team, would love to have his mojo back in the format he just loves to dominate. The ICC Champions Trophy isn’t too far as well and all eyes will definitely be on the individual who has given tremendous success to the nation for more than a decade.
