IND vs ENG: Changes on the cards for England for 4th Test, Liam Dawson confirmed entrant

IND vs ENG: England are likely to retain Jofra Archer for the fourth Test, but might leave out Brydon Carse and Chris Woakes.

The fourth IND vs ENG Test is going to be a crucial one for the English team, who are searching for their first series win against the Indians since 2018. After winning the Lord’s Test by 22 runs, they are well on their way, and lead 1-2. But the fourth clash might just see a few changes in their playing XI, which might not be ideal for the home side.

Shoaib Bashir Out, Liam Dawson In

For starters, spinner Shoaib Bashir is sure shot out of any further participation in the series, given his left hand injury. Instead Liam Dawson is expected to replace him. Dawson had last played a Test for England in 2017, and that would give England some batting support too, that Bashir did not offer.

Apart from that, as per a report in The Telegraph, Gus Atkinson is also in contention, who had missed out in the third Test, despite being drafted in the squad late. That could also mean, England could look to rest the likes of Brydon Carse and Chris Woakes, who have played three matches on the trot, and might need some rest.

Gus Atkinson Likely

Coming back to Dawson, he has had some great domestic performances, and pipped the likes of Rehan Ahmed and Will Jacks, to seal his berth in the squad. Even someone like a Jack Leach was not in consideration. Till now, in the three matches he has played so far, he has gone on to pick 7 wickets, and also scored 84 runs. Apart from that he has played 6 ODIs and 14 T20Is for his country.

England Full Squad: Ben Stokes (Durham) – Captain, Jofra Archer (Sussex), Gus Atkinson (Surrey), Jacob Bethell (Warwickshire), Harry Brook (Yorkshire), Brydon Carse (Durham), Zak Crawley (Kent), Liam Dawson (Hampshire), Ben Duckett (Nottinghamshire), Ollie Pope (Surrey), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Jamie Smith (Surrey), Josh Tongue (Nottinghamshire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire).
