Real Madrid eye David De Gea signing after Courtois injury

Real Madrid eyeing the signature of David De Gea after Courtois injury in training

David De Gea: Who would’ve thought that after nearly a decade of David De Gea almost joining Real Madrid, he could actually make the move. In the transfer window of 2015, the Spanish goalie almost made the move to Los Blancos, but after there was an issue with the fax machine, it all broke down. Now, after it was revealed that Thibaut Courtois suffered a horrific injury to his left knee, he could be out for the season. So, Real Madrid is looking to bring in David De Gea as his replacement.

According to rumours, David De Gea is about to join Real Madrid. The move comes after Thibaut Courtois was ruled out for several months after suffering a horror knee injury. De Gea, 32, left Manchester United at the end of June and is now free to join any team.

After hurting his left knee during practice, Courtois left the facility in tears. Real Madrid later announced that he had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament. Andriy Lunin is the only senior keeper still available for the team due to the injury.

However, with De Gea in advanced talks to join Real, according to talkSPORT, that is about to change. The 2015 attempt by Real Madrid to sign the Spaniard failed because of a malfunctioning fax machine.

Real Madrid eyeing prospects

The Spanish behemoths are reportedly keeping an eye on Kepa Arrizabalaga’s circumstances at Chelsea. Bayern Munich is currently interested in Kepa and is considering a loan agreement with an option to purchase. They are also looking at Sevilla’s Bono and Valencia’s Mamardashvili as potential options to be their goalie for the upcoming season.

After departing the Red Devils for more than a month, De Gea is still without a club. After 12 years at Old Trafford, his contract expired at the end of June, and he left the stadium. Since then, there are rumors of interest from other clubs, including Inter Milan. Nevertheless, after Andre Onana joined United, De Gea declined the opportunity to sign with the Italian powerhouses.

Thibaut Courtois’ freak injury

Thibaut Courtois was “in TEARS” after sustaining a terrifying injury during practice. Before suffering a terrible injury to his left knee, the Belgium goalkeeper was going through the motions with his Real Madrid teammates during one of their final preseason practices. After hurting his knee, Courtois, 31, is alleged to have been in excruciating pain.

The former Chelsea goalie was “in tears” as he exited the field, according to Cadena Cope. Real made a statement this afternoon confirming the Belgian’s injury and saying their No. 1 had torn his ACL.

Their statement said, ‘After the tests carried out on our player Thibaut Courtois, he’s been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee. The player will undergo surgery in the coming days.’ Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real, might have to make a transfer move as a result of Courtois’ injury.

Providing he doesn’t believe backup goalie Andriy Lunin is capable, that is. The Italian might go for David de Gea if he wants to save money on a transfer fee.
