Women's Premier League 2025: List of captains in WPL 2025 of all teams

The Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 will feature five captains, including three Indians and two foreign players.

The Women’s Premier League is set to begin from February 14 with Gujarat Giants vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru to be the opening match. WPL enters its third edition, excitement builds around the captains set to lead their teams with determination and tactical acumen. Smriti Mandhana

Smriti Mandhana led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to their first WPL title in 2024, ending a 17-year trophy drought. After a disappointing 2023 season, RCB made a stunning comeback, finishing third in the group stage before defeating Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. Mandhana impressed individually, scoring 300 runs in 10 matches. As India’s vice-captain, she now aims to defend RCB’s title, starting against Gujarat Giants on February 14 in Vadodara.

Harmanpreet Kaur

Harmanpreet Kaur guided Mumbai Indians to their maiden WPL title in 2023, but their 2024 campaign ended in the Eliminator against RCB. A crucial performer, she has amassed 549 runs in 17 WPL games. MI will look to reclaim glory as they face Delhi Capitals on February 15 in Vadodara.

Meg Lanning

Meg Lanning has been key to Delhi Capitals’ consistency, leading them to the top of the table in both WPL seasons, though they fell short in the finals. A decorated leader, she has guided Australia to multiple ICC titles. A prolific batter, she was WPL’s top scorer in 2023 and second in 2024. Her leadership will be vital in Delhi’s title pursuit.

Deepti Sharma

Deepti Sharma becomes UP Warriorz’s first Indian captain, replacing Alyssa Healy. A key player since the team’s inception, she made history in WPL 2024 with a hat-trick and won the MVP award. With 385 runs and 19 wickets in WPL, she also holds 138 T20I wickets for India. UP Warriorz face Gujarat Giants on February 16.

Ashleigh Gardner

Gujarat Giants, finishing last in both WPL seasons, have appointed Ashleigh Gardner as captain, replacing Beth Mooney. A proven winner, Gardner starred in Australia’s 2022 Commonwealth gold and the 2023 T20 World Cup.
