India cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav is in no mood to give up despite his poor form in the shortest format of the game. The star has vowed to ‘blast’ in the near future despite less than a couple of months remaining for the T20 World Cup 2026. For the record, the Indian T20I skipper finished 2025 without scoring a single century in the format, emerging as a headache for India ahead of the marquee event in February.

SKY confident of firing despite repeated failures

Speaking at an event, Suryakumar claimed that he was still at a learning stage, while adding that he had 14 soldiers covering him for his poor form. He iterated that he would blast in time, noting that all his teammates would know when he did. The Indian T20I captain’s remarks come after consistent failures and especially after he made the remark, ‘I’m not out of form, but out of runs’.

According to me, sport teaches you a lot, and in every sportsperson’s career there is a time when you feel it is a learning stage, so it is that learning stage for me. But my 14 soldiers are covering it for me. They know that when I will blast, what will happen then. I am very positive and working really hard, and I am sure all of you will be like that as well. If we do not get good marks, we do not leave studying; we work hard so that we can score more. I also do the same thing,” Suryakumar Yadav said.

In 21 T20Is that Suryakumar has played this year, he has managed to score just 218 runs. He averaged a miserable 13.62 in 2025, with a highest score of 47 not out. Playing at a strike rate of 123.16, the Indian captain managed to strike just 18 fours and ten sixes this year.
