India cricket team batter Shubman Gill has overtaken Babar Azam to become the number 1 ODI batter. The Indian vice-captain registered three consecutive 50+ scores in the recently concluded IND vs ENG ODI series, including a century in Ahmedabad. India captain Rohit Sharma is on the third position while Shreyas Iyer has moved to the 9th position on the rankings.
Shubman Gill is new ODI no.1 batter
Last week, Gill was positioned to overtake Babar as the number 1 batter in ODIs after his performances in Nagpur and Cuttack. He managed to so after his 112-run knock in Ahmedabad that sealed India’s series win against England. While Rohit is at the number 3 position, Virat Kohli is stationed at number 6 and Shreyas Iyer at number 9. Babar Azam had a poor outing in the Tri-Nation series after being promoted as the opener. Both Gill and Babar, who serve as openers for India and Pakistan, will play a crucial role in the Champions Trophy.
