Sanju Samson to leave Kerala for Tamil Nadu after Vijay Hazare Trophy snub, claims viral X post

Samson featured in five of the six matches Kerala played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and was their captain. But wasn't part of their squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Sanju Samson will leave Kerala after his non-selection in the squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2024-25. This is what a viral X (formerly Twitter) post claims. Having been representing the Kerala cricket team since 2011, will the wicketkeeper batter, his home state, and move to Tamil Nadu?

Samson is undoubtedly the most famous player to represent Kerala in the Indian cricket team. Sreesanth may have won two World Cups (T20I in 2007 and ODI in 2011), but as far as fame goes, Samson has got the pacer covered. He’s also enjoying the best phase of his career at the moment. Would he want to part ways with the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) right now?

Sanju Sanju in a tiff with KCA?

That just might be right. Samson only plays T20Is for Team India and wants to get into the ODI side. But since the team is already set and he isn’t featuring in the Vijay Hazare Trophy either, there isn’t a way he can make his way into the 50-over side or think about playing in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

If he has a tiff with KCA, he might want to join the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. That would mean if not this year, then from the next year he’ll feature in domestic 50-over matches and improve his chances of making it to both of India’s limited-over teams.

Injury the reason behind no Vijay Hazare Trophy for Sanju Samson?

The only thing is, he might be injured and not in a feud with the KCA. Last week, a Sanju Samson fan page posted that the wicketkeeper is currently injured, and that’s why he didn’t attend KCA’s preparatory camp for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. If true, it would suggest that nothing is going on between Samson and KCA. It would be just that neither the cricketer nor the board has made things clear.
