In what could be a setback for the India A team vs Australia A, veteran batter Shreyas Iyer is all set to miss the second Test, as per a report in the Times of India. The encounter begins on Tuesday, and no replacement will be added to the squad. Meanwhile, the batter is in serious contention for a spot in the Indian Test team for the West Indies series, which will begin on October 2.

Then now, Dhruv Jurel will lead the team. “Yes, Shreyas is taking a break and has returned to Mumbai. He has informed the selectors that he won’t be able to play in the second four-day match against Australia A. However, he remains in fray for a spot in the middle-order when the selectors meet to pick the squad for the West Indies series,” a source told TOI.
In the last match, Shreyas Iyer was rather ineffective and in India’s only innings — where they scored 531, he only scored 8 from 13 balls. His returns for the West Zone in the Duleep Trophy semis was not up to the mark as well. He scored only 25 and 12 in the two innings there.
Nitish Kumar Reddy still injured
But then he had an excellent last season of Ranji Trophy, and had displayed excellent form in the Champions Trophy, where he went score 243 runs in five matches at an average of 48. On the other hand, Mohammed Siraj will come in place of Khaleel Ahmed. Nitish Kumar Reddy is yet to recover from his injury and will miss the second match too.
