IPL 2025 playoffs: Which foreign player is available and who is not?

The IPL 2025 playoffs begin on May 29, and due to some international commitments, some players might not be available for teams in fray.

Finally, after a delay of about 10 days, the IPL 2025 league stages is over and now the action will move to the playoffs from Thursday. First up will be the Qualifier 1 between RCB and PBKS, in Mullanpur, followed by the Eliminator between GT and MI, and then the Qualifier 2 and the final.

But amidst all this, the dynamics for all these teams will change a bit, albeit because of the availability of the foreign players. Some will leave the tournament, and then some will come back, just for the playoffs. InsideSport takes a look at the status of all the four teams in fray.

Marco Jansen Issue for PBKS

The foremost player that the team will miss is Marco Jansen. In 14 matches this year, he went on to pick 16 wickets, and went on to form a potent partnership with Arshdeep Singh. But they do have the presence of Mitchell Owen and Kyle Jamieson now.

No Fear When Josh Hazlewood is Here for RCB

The team has made it to the Qualifier 1, but will be without the likes of Jacob Bethell and Lungi Ngidi. But that should hardly bother them, as they have named the replacements, and also Josh Hazlewood is back with the team.

GT Has Serious Problems to Deal With

Probably one of the worst-hit teams, in terms of foreign resources. Kagiso Rabada and Jos Buttler are out for national duties, and their presence would be missed sorely by the Shubman Gill-led team now. Buttler had gone on to score 538 runs in 14 encounters for the team, and in his place, the team has signed Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis.

MI Well-covered With Jonny Bairstow

The team looked settled in the group stages, but two of their great performers — Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton will leave for national duties. Along with them will also be Corbin Bosch, who was inducted in the team later. The only saving grace for them could be, that replacement Jonny Bairstow will be playing for them now.
