The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the India squad for the upcoming series against England. The Women in Blue will play a five-T20I and three ODI series in England starting June 28. Harmanpreet Kaur remains captain for both formats, while Shafali Verma makes a comeback to the t20I squad.
India squad vs England: Shafali returns, still no Renuka
Fresh from a tri-series win in Sri Lanka, India Women will take on England Women for a limited-overs series. Delhi Capitals opener Shafali Verma returns to the T20I squad, after an impressive WPL season. Renuka Singh Thakur continues to miss out after her struggles with injury. Shreyanka Patil also misses out. It is unclear why Patil and Thakur are out of the squad.
Pratika Rawal meanwhile, is retained as part of the ODIs set up after impressing in Sri Lanka. Sneh Rana returns to the T20I set up after her fine in the tri-series. She was India’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament. Sayali Satghare earned a call up after strong performances in the domestic circuit for Mumbai.
Yastika Bhatia and Harleen Deol both earned recalls while Uma Chetry missed out. The selectors opted for a core group with not much difference between the ODI and T20I outfits.
