- Cameron Norrie registered his first-ever victory against Carlos Alcaraz in his career in the quarterfinal at Cincinnati. The Briton clinched a hard-fought three set victory with two sets going into the tie-breaker.
- Norrie started the tournament by facing Holder Rune in the first round and won the match in three sets.
- In the second round he faced compatriot Andy Murray and despite losing the first set, he won the next two sets to enter the third round.
- He faced Ben Shelton in the next match and this is the only game which Norrie won in straight sets in the tournament.
- Norrie has been in a good touch and recently reached the final of the Los Cabos Open and finished as runner-up after losing to Daniil Medvedev.

- Meanwhile, Coric has had a stellar campaign at Cincinnati this year. He started the tournament by winning against Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets and set up clash with Rafael Nadal in the second round.
- Coric stunned the World No.2 by winning the match 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 to advance to the third round of the tournament.
- He faced another seeded Spaniard in Roberto Bautista but the Croat completely dominated the match by dropping just five games and won the contest.
- In the quarterfinal, he was up against seventh seed Felix Auger Aliassime. He continued his rich vein of form to defeat the Canadian in straight sets and enters his maiden semifinal this year.
