Just a few days ago, Punjab Kings chased down a 264-run target and today, Sunrisers Hyderabad have chased down a 244-run target, the fourth-highest chase in IPL history. Abhishek Sharma (45 off 24) and Travis Head (76 off 30) set the stage with a 129-run stand. Heinrich Klaasen applied the finishing touch with a magnificent 30-ball 65, along with Salil Arora (30 off 10). With the win, SRH extended their winning run to five matches in a row.

Sunrisers Hyderabad inch closer as Jasprit Bumrah concedes 13 runs to end his spell with 0/54. SRH need just 11 off the last 12 balls.

Some relief for Mumbai Indians as Trent Boult breaks the 80-run stand. He gets rid of Nitish Kumar Reddy, who tried to pull but got a top-edge instead for an easy catch. SRH 4 down for 213 with 31 needed off 22.

What if Ishan Kishan did not get runs today, Sunrisers Hyderabad can dream of chasing down 244 comfortably with Heinrich Klaasen going strong. He brings up his half-century off just 22 balls.

There is no stopping Heinrich Klaasen yet, as he continues his aggressive batting to move to 44 off 21. Sunrisers Hyderabad need 51 off the last 30 balls with Klaasen and Nitish Reddy on the crease.

After losing three quick wickets, Heinrich Klaasen has taken charge as he goes after Allah Ghazanfar with two fours and a six and Ashwani Kumar with four boundaries to move to 31 off just 12 balls.

Sunrisers Hyderabad lose another wicket as Mumbai make a comeback in the match. Hardik Pandya strikes. Travis Head misjudged the slower full toss and smashed it directly to the fielder at cover. Head falls for 76 off 30. After 10 overs, SRH posted 134/3. Mumbai were 124/2 after 10.

Two in two for Allah Ghazanfar as he removes Ishan Kishan for a golden duck. Ishan tried to play the cut but got a bottom-edge that shattered his stumps.

Allah Ghazanfar delivers the breakthrough in the 9th over as Abhishek Sharma departs for 45 off 24 balls. Outside off delivery and Abhishek tried to loft it but did not get the timing or power. As a result, it was an easy catch for Trent Boult. SRH 129/1.

Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head bring up a 100-run opening stand. Head also brings up his half-century with a six against Ashwani Kumar off 19 balls. Mumbai are bleeding runs here as they Ashwani Kumar concedes 23 runs and the asking rate is now below 10.

Jasprit Bumrah goes for 18 in his second over, 28 runs in his two overs as Sunrisers Hyderabad surpass Mumbai Indians' powerplay score to post 92/0, the highest against MI in PP. SRH will fancy a chance to chase down the target with the platform set. Hardik Pandya has a worried face now as he has a chat with Bumrah.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have the perfect start with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head bringing up 50-run stand in 21 balls. With Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen coming up, SRH can dream of chasing down 244.

After Abhishek Sharma's good start, Travis Head pounces on Trent Boult with three sixes in the third over to score 18 runs from the over.

After Trent Boult's 11-run first over, Jasprit Bumrah went for 10 with Abhishek Sharma smashing him for a six and a four.

Sunrisers Hyderabad need a record chase at the Wankhde Stadium to win today, and they will be up against Jasprit Bumrah.

Despite a bright start and good middle overs, Mumbai Indians end up scoring just 41/2 in the final overs. As a result, Mumbai Indians post 243/5. Ryan Rickleton was the crucial cog as he carried his bat with an unbeaten 123 off 55 balls.

Mumbai Indians once again struggle in the death overs as Praful Hinge removes Tilak Varma, who was trying to go for the big hit on a full delivery.

Hardik Pandya falls. He was striking it well today but as he goes for the big shot against Sakib Hussain's full wide of off stump, he does not get the timing and gets caught at the long off. Hardik departs for 31 off 15.

An excellent 17th over by Pat Cummins. He concedes just 6 even as Hardik Pandya and Ryan Rickleton go after every bowler.

Ryan Rickleton brings up his maiden century in IPL off just 44 deliveries. He was dropped from the Playing XI in favour of Quinton de Kock after he scored 9, 8, 37 and 2. But as he returns in place of De Kock, who is injured, he sends a clear message to the team management with a century. This is the fastest century by a Mumbai Indians batter after 45-ball ton by Tilak Varma and Sanath Jayasuriya.

Hardik Pandya has come ahead of Sherfane Rutherford with six overs to go. Will that work out for Mumbai? Rutherford has been in better form than Hardik.

With Ryan Rickleton going strong, Naman Dhir took the backseat but his approach did not last long. As he tried to go for a big shot against Praful Hinge, he gave away a catch to Harsh Dubey at the deep mid-wicket. Naman falls for 22 off 17.

There is no stopping Ryan Rickleton today. He goes after Harsh Dubey with two sixes in a row as the spinner continues to bowl in his arc.

With Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav falling in quick succession, Ryan Rickleton has taken charge with Naman Dhir by his side. Mumbai Indians score 124/2 in 10 overs.

Suryakumar Yadav extends his poor run of form and for a third time this season, he has been dismissed, trying to go for a pull shot. SKY departs for 5 as Eshan Malinga strikes.

Ryan Rickleton brings up his half-century off just 23 deliveries with a six against Nitish Kumar Reddy. This is Rickleton's 2nd fifty in IPL 2026.

The partnership is broken and it's Nitish Kumar Reddy who does the job. Reddy bowls a 140KPH delivery and Will Jacks edges gets a faint edge to Ishan Kishan. Jacks departs for 46 off 22 and the 93-run stand is broken.

Will Jacks and Ryan Rickleton have provided Mumbai Indians with an excellent start, bringing up 78 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket. This is Mumbai's second-highest score in the powerplay this season.

Mumbai Indians are off to a solid start as they wanted with Will Jacks and Ryan Rickleton bringing up a 50-run stand in just 30 balls.

Slow short ball by Eshan Malinga and Ryan Rickleton pulled it to the fine leg but the ball fell just short of Praful Hinge. On the next delivery, Will Jacks tried to flick but gave away a chance at the same fine leg position but it also fell short of Hinge.

Will Jacks is off to a flying start. He goes after Praful Hinge with 6, 4 and a 4 after smashing Pat Cummins for a 4 in the 1st over.

Mumbai Indians have another new opening pair with Ryan Rickleton opening with Will Jacks.

With Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock (wrist) out injured, Will Jacks has been promoted to open with Ryan Rickleton, who is back. Robin Minz also plays with Trent Boult also returning to the Playing XI.

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya wins the toss and opts to bat first at Wankhede against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Rohit Sharma has been sidelined with a hamstring injury and even though he has been practising at Mumbai Indians nets, the team does not want to rush his return in a hurry.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, meanwhile, are flying. Five wins from eight, third in the standings, and on a four-match winning run. Abhishek Sharma is back to his best with 380 runs at a strike rate of 212.29, averaging 54.28 with one century and three fifties. Ishan Kishan (312) and Heinrich Klaasen (349) are also among the runs.

The bowling has been the bigger story, though. Eshan Malinga is the leading wicket-taker for SRH this season with 14 wickets at 18.21, and Pat Cummins is back, even if his return spell against RR was modest in a high-scoring contest. SRH have a settled, balanced look about them. MI don't.

There's no soft-pedalling where MI are right now. Five defeats in the first seven matches, ninth on the IPL 2026 Points Table with four points and a NRR of -0.736, and their most recent loss, a 103-run defeat to CSK, was the heaviest in MI's IPL history by margin of runs. For a side with four players from India's T20 World Cup-winning squad, the no-shows from Hardik Pandya (3 wickets and 97 runs) and Suryakumar Yadav have been the loudest issue.

With Trent Boult (1 wicket), Deepak Chahar (1 wicket) and Shardul Thakur also failing to find wickets, Mumbai's problems have been compounded. Add Mitchell Santner's IPL ending injury, and they don't have enough options on the bench to choose from. The only good news is the return of Will Jacks. Former captain Rohit Sharma has been out with a hamstring injury since April 12, but he has been batting in the nets. There's at least a chance that Rohit may return. They badly need it.

The Wankhede has done what the Wankhede usually does this season: produce runs, and lots of them. But there's been a slight twist worth noting. Earlier in the IPL 2026 cycle at this venue, the surface played a touch slower than the typical Wankhede track, with the first-innings average sitting around 179 rather than the usual 200-plus.

That trend has shifted in the past couple of fixtures, with the wicket coming back closer to its true reputation. The surface at Wankhede this season has been firmly batter-friendly, with small boundaries and a true pitch making it one of the most preferred batting venues in the country. The ball comes nicely onto the bat, stroke play is easier than at most grounds, and high scores are the norm.

The conditions on Wednesday should support that pattern. Temperatures will sit between 30°C and 34°C with humidity at around 62% — hot, sticky, and likely to bring dew into play in the second innings. That, combined with Wankhede's strong recent record of chases, means the toss-winning captain will almost certainly bowl first.

The historical numbers say this is MI territory, even if recent meetings tell a different story. Across 25 IPL meetings between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, MI lead 15-10. At Wankhede specifically, MI have won seven of the nine matches against SRH. 

However, SRH have clinched only two of their last nine matches against MI, which makes the broader head-to-head look pretty one-sided. But SRH will feel they're primed to end a three-match losing streak against MI when they take the field at Wankhede tonight.
