GT vs RCB, IPL 2026: The Gujarat Titans (GT) have aced the chase and claim their 5th win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lose their third game but remain in the 2nd spot on the IPL 2026 points table. GT also stays put at 5th.
RCB lose the plot after the powerplay
RCB had started well. Despite losing both Jacob Bethell and Virat Kohli in the powerplay, RCB were 79/2 in 7.3 overs. It was Rajat Patidar’s controversial catch that changed the momentum of the game. In the next 3 overs, RCB lost 3 wickets. They were forced to use Venkatesh Iyer as the impact sub, but the move didn’t work. RCB ended up posting 155 on board, that too after Bhuvneshwar Kumar scored an unbeaten 15.
GT ace the chase, get NRR boost
GT usually play the long game. They don’t go hard when chasing. But today, Shubman Gill started with the intent we haven’t seen before. He was 35 off 10 at one point. Jos Buttler came out all guns blazing as well. When he got out for 39 off 19 in the 8th over, GT were 92/2. The game was basically done. So, even when RCB claimed a couple of wickets, GT were never under pressure. Rahul Tewatia stabilised, as Gujarat won with 25 balls to spare.
