PUBG Mobile apologizes and removes the controversial "Hand of the Almighty" card from the v4.4 update following backlash from some players.

Popular battle royale video game PUBG Mobile has officially apologized to gamers and withdrawn a specific in-game card following a backlash from a certain community over issues of religious insensitivity. The issue started after PUBG Mobile launched the “Hand of the Almighty” card as one of the new features in their latest update, version v4.4 Hero’s Crown.

Not long after the launch of this new feature, some gamers pointed out the use of religious terminology in the name of the card, which is not appropriate in a gaming context.

The PUBG Mobile v4.4 Update Controversy

It did not take long for the issue to become viral, with many users insisting that the developers take quick action on this matter. The developers of the game responded to this criticism by removing the item and issuing an official statement regarding the same.

“We value and respect all religions and strive to create a safe and inclusive environment for everyone,” the company said in its statement. “We will continue to listen to our players as we further review our content and strengthen our content vetting processes.”

Many users have appreciated the quick response of the developers of PUBG Mobile in dealing with the issue. This step has been particularly welcomed by some community gamers.

PUBG Mobile Controversy but Not the First Time

This is certainly not the first controversy the game has received regarding religious and cultural sensitivity. The company was compelled to change the name of its ‘Mysterious Jungle’ game mode in the year 2020 because of objections to some animation about idol worship in the event. In recent times, the game had to apologize because it used Islamic calligraphy in one of its promotions.

The current case reveals the increased significance of the issue within the global gaming market. Nowadays, developers face pressure related to the respect of religion and culture in the game, considering the huge number of participants of such games from all around the world.
