The recently concluded Skyesports Championship 2024, featuring an impressive prize pool of $300,000, witnessed intense competition and high stakes. Amidst the excitement, 3DMAX emerged as the champions of the event. However, the journey wasn’t without its challenges. On the first day of the Group Stage, the championship faced significant issues with electricity and internet connectivity. Fortunately, the Skyesports team quickly resolved these problems, taking a day off to replan and ensure smooth operations from Day 2 onward.
We had the opportunity to sit down with Naveen Prakash, Head of Production and Broadcasting at Skyesports, to discuss the initial hurdles, how they overcame them, and what the future holds for Skyesports and its upcoming events. Here’s an insight into our conversation.
Despite some initial challenges on Day 1, how has the overall response been from the teams and the community regarding the Skyesports Championship 2024?
On Day 1 of the Skyesports Championship 2024, we faced significant challenges, including power and internet issues. To address this, we decided to take a day off to reevaluate and replan everything. From Day 2 of the group stage matches onward, we haven’t encountered any issues or delays. The event has been running smoothly since then.
Initially, we received some backlash from the audience on Day 1. However, from Day 2 onwards, we experienced overwhelming support from both the audience and players worldwide who were participating and watching the matches. We managed to turn things around quickly, and I am very happy with our successful execution of the event.

BETBOOM Esports decided to back out from the event on Day 1 of the Group Stage. Can you share more details on how the organization managed this situation?
When I heard that BETBOOM Esports was going to withdraw from the Skyesports Championship 2024, it was a shock to me. We were in the process of fixing the issues faced by players on Day 1. If they had stayed with us for just one more day (the day off we took to resolve the issues), they wouldn’t have wasted their slot in the tournament. I also believe that if they had stayed and played in the event, they might have had a chance of winning and becoming the champions. Unfortunately, they missed a significant opportunity by deciding to withdraw prematurely.
Looking ahead, what are Skyesports’ plans for future tournaments and events? Are there any new initiatives or expansions in the pipeline?
We have already announced the roadmap for CS2 tournaments by Skyesports. The next tournament will be the Skyesports Souvenir. The event schedule, prize pool, and participating teams will be revealed very soon. We are committed to continuing to grow and expand the esports scene in India by hosting high-quality events and fostering international competition.
