India’s powerful batting line-up will head into the tournament with the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma leading India’s charge. India will has specialist batters at the top order. Furthermore, down the order, the Men in Blue has specialist finishers in their list.

Rohit Sharma

The India Cricket Team will be headed by skipper Rohit Sharma leading the charge. The Men in Blue will see the Hitman opening the innings for the team. There however remains an abundance of options in choosing his partner. Rohit Sharma was the second highest run getter in ODI World Cup and he will be expected to lead India’s charge in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.

Shubman Gill

Ever since the emergence of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill’s stocks have dropped. But Shubman Gill has been playing well in IPL 2024 and thus will be keen to get his seat in the India squad. While his favoured position is in the opening spot, if he doesn’t make the playing XI, he will surely be in the bench. And with a long competition, the team will surely look to rotate players to avoid risk of injuries.

Virat Kohli

The King – Virat Kohli has been in red hot form. He was the highest run getter in the ODI World Cup. Currently in IPL 2024, he tops the charts in most runs scored. The only dilemma related to Kohli – will he open or play at number 3? It will be fun to see Kohli opening with Rohit Sharma. However, the highly likely that he will bat at his preferred position at one-down.

Suryakumar Yadav

The World Number 1 T20I batter’s inclusion in the T20I squad is a no-brainer. SKY will straight head into India’s Playing XI at number 4 spot. The 360 degree shot hitter can play a dual role. Not only can Suryakumar Yadav be the enforcer he can also don the role of an enforcer if the top 3 collapses on an unfortunate day.

Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh is India’s designated finisher in the team. After a blistering IPL 2023 season, he was fast-tracked into team India squad. Since then he has been a regular for the Men in Blue in the shortest format of the game. Though Rinku hasn’t got his chance to light up IPL 2024 like he did the previous year, he is the best finisher that India has currently and will thus have his name in the World Cup squad.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

After a blistering IND vs ENG Test series, young Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s form dipped in IPL 2024. But he answered his haters in style with a stunning knock against MI. Expected to be back among the runs, the young destructive southpaw will be the prime candidate to partner Rohit Sharma as the opening pair. Not only do the duo compliment each other, the right-left combination works wonders for the team.

Shivam Dube

People might argue that he is an all-rounder. But if Shivam Dube gets his chance in the World Cup squad, it will be primarily as a batter, rather a specialised finisher. The southpaw has been going at the opposition at hammer and tongs in IPL 2024. The only drawback, he is being used as an impact player. This means he hasn’t bowled in IPL and thus won’t be a part of the bowling unit if he gets his chance in USA.
