Need For Speed

The Need for Speed (NFS) franchise, published by Electronic Arts and developed by various teams, including Criterion Games and Ghost Games, has become one of EA’s oldest and most successful ventures. From its inception in 1994 with “The Need for Speed” to the recent release of “Need for Speed Unbound” in December 2022, the series has sold over 150 million copies. With notable contributions from studios like Slightly Mad Studios and Criterion Games, the franchise evolved in gameplay and customization. The series shifted from international settings to urban street racing, introducing features like police pursuits, car tuning, and multiplayer modes. In 2020, Criterion regained oversight of the franchise, solidifying its legacy in the gaming world.
