Gamers have waited nearly two decades for Activision’s billion-dollar shooter franchise to make the jump to the big screen. Now, following Paramount Pictures’ surprise announcement last year, the highly anticipated live-action Call of Duty movie finally has an official launch window.
Call of Duty Movie Official Release Date and Creative Team
According to a statement at the recent CinemaCon event, the film version of the iconic video game Call of Duty will finally be released in theaters on June 30, 2028. To bring the intense military adventure genre into cinemas without compromising its quality, the film’s producers have hired director Peter Berg (Lone Survivor).
Peter is currently co-writing the film’s screenplay with accomplished writer Taylor Sheridan, famous for directing movies such as Sicario and Yellowstone.

Which Era Will the Movie Explore?
The current puzzle regarding this movie production is what timeline will be captured by this project. There have been many interesting storylines featured within the game, including the violent and realistic depiction of World War II, the mind-twisting and sneaky tactics employed in Black Ops, and the advanced warfare depicted in Modern Warfare.
At the moment, Paramount Pictures only gives away that the movie will be called “Call of Duty.” As more and more work is done for pre-production and casting, we are sure that soon there will be hints as to what time period the story will take place in and who will be featured in it.
The release date for Call of Duty comes only two weeks before the eagerly awaited movie Incredibles 3 from Pixar studios. What is even more exciting about this military action film is that it is scheduled for the same day that the DC Dynamic Duo will debut. The latter is an animation superhero movie starring Batman’s young proteges, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.
