Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has claimed that India’s bowling line-up without Jasprit Bumrah is futile. His remarks come after reports suggested that the premium Indian bowler is likely to miss the group stage matches in Champions Trophy 2025 after developing a swelling in his back. Amir dubbed Bumrah’s absence as a huge loss for India while he also commented on India’s mentality as they head into the tournament amid facing severe flak.
“Without Jasprit Bumrah…”
Speaking to Times of India, Amir reckoned that the Indian bowling line-up without Bumrah would mean its strength was reduced by 40-50%. Incidentally, Akash Chopra had also pointed out that the Indian team needed the pacer despite having Shami in the squad for ICC Champions Trophy. Amir also claimed that Pakistan would have the upper hand against India in the clash of the arch-rivals in CT 2025 group stage.
“It will be a huge loss to India if Bumrah isn’t there. He has been a top bowler for India, leading the pack from the front. Without him, the Indian bowling attack is reduced to 40-50 percent of its strength,” Amir said.

“The way Pakistan has played recently — defeating Australia in Australia and then beating South Africa — shows their strength, especially in overseas conditions. Considering their recent performances, I think Pakistan will have the upper hand against India. However, India has always been my favorite in big tournaments,” he added.
Bumrah to miss CT 2025 group stage?
“He (Bumrah) will be going to NCA for his rehabilitation. The initial report says he doesn’t have a fracture but has swelling on his back. So the NCA will monitor his recovery and he will be there for three weeks. But even after that, he will have to play a match or two, even if they are practice games organised to check his match fitness,” a source said.
