After a poor IPL 2023 season, the Delhi Capitals (DC) will look to turn things around at the IPL Auction 2024. The Capitals ended the last season ranked 9th, winning just 5 of their 14 matches. With their current skipper’s fitness and health still circumspect, DC has a tall task ahead of them before the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League. Here is the list of players who might be retained by DC management in hopes of winning their first title.
Three players DC might retain
- David Warner: Despite not getting the result he wanted, skipper Warner led the side from the front. The southpaw ended the IPL 2023 as the Delhi Capitals’ highest run scorer (516), and the next-best scorer made 233 runs less than him.
- Axar Patel: Several DC fans thought that Axar should lead the side in Rishabh Pant’s absence, and boy did the all-rounder prove them right. Apart from being their second-highest run-scorer (283 runs), Axar also picked up 11 wickets (2nd highest for DC). Apart from starring with the bat and bowl, he is also known to be a gun fielder.
- Prithvi Shaw: Considered to be one of the best talents in India, Shaw did not do himself justice in the IPL 2023. The right-handed opener managed to score just 106 runs in 8 innings at a miserly average of 13.25. However, the batter has proved himself to be one of the best IPL openers of all time, having the 5th best strike of any opener in the league (145.78).
