Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) isn’t backing down. They aren’t willing to change their original stance on the Champions Trophy 2025. The PCB had stated for months now that they wouldn’t agree to anything but Pakistan hosting the entire 8-team tournament. They said so yesterday (November 29) in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) meeting with the boards and would repeat it again when the meeting resumes today (November 30).
PCB not backing down to BCCI
The virtual conversation didn’t last longer than 15 minutes as PCB didn’t budge. The time for the meeting remains unspecified, but it’s confirmed that Pakistan is heartedly against the idea of a ‘hybrid model.’ “Pakistan’s stance is unchanged,” a PCB source told Geo News.

ICC willing to take Champions Trophy out of Pakistan?
Earlier today, it was reported that the ICC is willing to go forward with the Champions Trophy even if the PCB isn’t on board. This means that the event could move entirely out of Pakistan. The battle, which is between the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) and PCB, has a clear winner if the ICC were to choose sides. Given the amount of revenue they generate not just for themselves but for the whole world, the BCCI would always get the preference.
If neither BCCI nor the PCB are willing to back down, the outcome is certain. The Champions Trophy 2025 will move out of Pakistan for sure. Where to? That’s uncertain as of now, but reports have suggested South Africa as the backup host. However, the UAE will be available as well, most certainly.
