Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad on hold, PCB names team for Ireland & England series only

The series against Ireland will run from 10-14 May, while the England series will take place from 22-30 May, with the final squad decision to be made after the first T20I at Leeds on 22 May.

The Pakistan Cricket Board are yet to announce their 15-member squad for T20 World Cup. The PCB has announced an 18-player squad for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England. This squad will later be trimmed to 15 players to meet the ICC’s deadline for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

The Pakistan selection committee has recalled fast bowler Haris Rauf and all-rounders Hasan Ali and Salman Ali Agha. Haris Rauf and wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan had missed the series against New Zealand due to injuries, while Mohammad Rizwan and Muhammad Irfan Khan were rested due to minor niggles.

However, all four players have since undergone fitness assessments at the National Cricket Academy and showed significant improvement, providing confidence to the PCB Medical Panel and the team management.

Salman Ali Agha, who brings aggressive middle-order batting and off-spin bowling, has been named in Pakistan’s spin department, joining the likes of Abrar Ahmed, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, and Shadab Khan. Usama Mir and fast bowler Zaman Khan, did not make the cut this time.
