Devon Conway

Struggling with a thumb injury, it will come as no surprise if Conway doesn’t receive a boarding ticket for the New Zealand T20 World Cup squad. Conway recently sustained an injury in the IPL 2024, and as a result, he withdrew from the league.

Apart from this, Conway, who usually opens the innings, although it’s not a criterion in T20Is, but he has a strike rate of 129, which is considerably low. Both scenarios do not give any hints, as the team has a few backup players who can bat with more impressive strike rates, such as Chapman and Tim Siefert. Chapman and Siefert can bat at the top of the order and play a role as an opener also. It could be possible that we may not see conway this time.

Lockie Ferguson

Fergusen has always considered the pacer to have a skiddy action and the ability to swing the ball both ways. but, looking at his current performances in the IPL and in T20I, he is not making as much of an impact as the bowler.

Emerged as the promising pacer, his form consistently dropped after the 2019 World Cup. In IPL this season, playing for RCB, he has conceded 127 runs in 3 overs with bad average of 42.33. Looking at his current phase, there is a strong chance that we might not see him at this World Cup.

Adam Milne

Milne is also one name who may miss the T20 World Cup 2024. He is suffering from an injury, and due to this, he had to withdraw himself from the ongoing Pakistan T20I series. Milne is one of the most experienced Kiwi pacers to date who usually bowls over 150 kmph consistently. Although due to injuries, it looks like he is also one who might miss the T20 World Cup this year.

Having played 53 T20I matches to date, he has taken 51 wickets to date, with a decent bowling economy of 8.42. Although other bowlers such as Trent Boult and Tim Southee, who are already doing well, will get priority first in this scenario, Milne is also someone who might miss the World Cup this season.
