MI vs CSK Live Score, IPL 2026: Two five-time champions. Same number of wins. Same number of losses. Both seventh and eighth on the IPL 2026 points table. One could make a case that this MI vs CSK fixture in IPL 2026 is the least consequential El Clasico in years. With their star players struggling for form and consistency, both teams will trade blows. But it’s CSK who will have to be cautious against a resurgent Mumbai, who are coming back from a 99-run win over Gujarat Titans.
MI vs CSK Match Preview
The two former champions have been the two most underperforming teams since 2024. MI have lost 21 out of 36 matches and have a winning percentage of 41.7%. CSK are the worst with a winning percentage of 38.2%.

However, Mumbai Indians will be in a better headspace after a 99-run thrashing of Gujarat Titans. Driven by Tilak Varma’s century and a destructive bowling display from Ashwani Kumar, MI snapped a four-match losing streak that had their season on the brink.
Jasprit Bumrah’s form is coming back, while Rohit Sharma is expected to return after a hamstring niggle. Will Jacks has also arrived at the camp, and he will be in the fray for selection. Suddenly, a unit that looked disjointed three weeks ago is starting to resemble the MI of old.
Chennai Super Kings, by contrast, can’t quite shake the inconsistency. They lost their first three, won back-to-back games against DC and KKR, and then lost to SRH in their most recent outing.
Ayush Mhatre and Khaleel Ahmed have been ruled out with injuries, making things worse for CSK. As a result, CSK will be forced to reassess their top order. Urvil Patel is likely to replace Mhatre, while Spencer Johnson, who came in as a Nathan Ellis replacement, is set to play in place of Mukesh Chaudhary.
But it’s their batting that needs to be addressed. Sanju Samson has scored a century but inconsistencies have not left him yet. Sarfaraz Khan has been steady but unable to convert, and Ruturaj Gaikwad is still searching for a meaningful score. For a side built around its batting, that’s an unsettling place to be.

Wankhede Stadium Pitch Report
The Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2026 has been a batters’ paradise. The average first-innings score has been 218 in three matches this season. The only match where neither team scored 200 was in the last game between MI and PBKS. But that’s due to MI’s poor death overs. PBKS chased down a 196-run target in just 16.3 overs.
That said, the toss is still expected to go towards bowling first. Daytime temperatures pushing the mid-30s will heighten Mumbai’s dew problem under lights, and across the three IPL 2026 matches played here so far, chasing sides have won twice, with the scoring rate at a booming 11.23 runs per over.

Few rivalries in world sport are as familiar as this one. Across 39 IPL meetings, MI lead CSK 21-18 in the overall head-to-head. Recent form in this fixture is less flattering for Mumbai than the overall numbers suggest. CSK have won four of their last five against MI. The most recent meeting, though, was a nine-wicket MI win at Wankhede last year with unbeaten fifties from Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav.
MI vs CSK Live Updates: Legends could be missing

While there were some positive reports coming about Rohit and Dhoni's participation, it seems like both of them would take some more time to recover. Might just miss tonight's match as well.
