IND vs ENG Live Score, 3rd T20I: All eyes on India playing XI, toss at 9.30 PM

IND vs ENG Live Score, 3rd T20I: All eyes on India playing XI, toss at 9.30 PM

Follow live updates of India vs England 3rd T20I from Trent Bridge, Nottingham as Shreyas Iyer eyes first win as captain.

IND vs ENG Live Score, 3rd T20I: Two games into this series, and the numbers already look uncomfortable for India. Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy tenure has been off to a poor start. India are yet to win a match since their T20 World Cup triumph, and they need to fix things quickly. A loss at Trent Bridge will effectively end their chance to win the IND vs ENG T20I series, and India would want to avoid that after losing the series to Ireland. With Vaibhav Sooryavanshi pushed to the top in place of Sanju Samson, the expectations are high.

England arrive with genuine momentum and a settled top order. The Ben Stokes retirement story is still playing out in the background at the ECB, but it has not touched this side’s form on the field. Jacob Bethell has been the story of the tour so far. Whether India can find an answer to him, and to a bowling attack that has troubled their middle order twice already, will decide most of how this series finishes.

IND vs ENG 3rd T20I match preview

India’s problem in Manchester was in the middle overs. Despite Abhishek Sharma’s 43 off 24 helping India score 65/2 in the powerplay, the innings almost stalled in the middle overs, with Ishan Kishan scoring a sluggish 40-ball 49. India eventually posted 190/7, but then the bowling let them down.

Arshdeep Singh took 3/40 and reduced England’s top order early, but Bethell simply absorbed the pressure with a 46-ball 76 and then took the game away in the back half of the chase. That is now twice in three matches that India’s total or bowling has not held up, and Ravi Bishnoi’s place in the XI looks genuinely uncertain heading into Nottingham, with Prince Yadav the likely replacement. Bishnoi leaked 60 runs in 4 overs, and Shreyas Iyer blamed his lacklustre show for the loss.

England will go unchanged as they have already announced their Playing XI. Jos Buttler is the concern in that batting order with just one 30+ score in his last 16 T20I innings. A duck in Manchester revived questions about his position that seemed settled a year ago when he and Phil Salt put on 126 in 7.5 overs against South Africa. Jofra Archer leads the pace attack. His opening spell against Abhishek Sharma is likely to set the tone for India’s whole innings.

IND vs ENG Live updates: India just need to play better

07/07/2026 20:11

Given both India's total of 190 not being enough in Manchester and Trent Bridge's own batting-friendly tendencies, this looks set up for another high-scoring contest. Whichever bowling attack holds its nerve at the death is likely to decide it.

IND vs ENG Live updates: What should be a safe total in Trent Bridge?

07/07/2026 20:04

Sides winning the toss at Trent Bridge tend to bat first and look to post 175 or more. Pace bowlers who can vary their length and mix in slower balls have generally had more joy defending totals here than those who rely on raw pace alone, since the surface offers little in the way of seam movement once the shine wears off. Spin becomes a containing option in the middle overs rather than a wicket-taking one.

IND vs ENG Live updates: Trent Bridge pitch

07/07/2026 20:01

Trent Bridge has long been one of England's most reliable batting tracks, flat and true with short boundaries, particularly toward the Bridgford Road side of the ground. That edge has softened a little in recent seasons. This year's T20 Blast has produced an average first-innings score of around 165 batting first, lower than the ground's historical peak but still comfortably higher than most English venues.
