DC vs KKR, IPL 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders have clinched an emphatic 8-wicket win against Delhi Capitals to keep their hopes of making it to the IPL 2026 playoffs alive. In what was a low-scoring encounter, Finn Allen led the charge with a 47-ball hundred, allowing the visitors to chase down the 143-run target within just 14.2 overs. As a result of the loss, Axar Patel’s DC are now on the brink of elimination and would need a miracle if they fancy a chance of finishing in the top four in the ongoing season.
Clinical performance from KKR bowlers
Bowling first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, KKR managed to restrict DC to 142/8 at the end of 20 overs. Barring Pathum Nissanka (50 off 29), no other DC batter managed to get going, with the side losing five wickets within 11 overs. A painstaking slow partnership between Axar Patel (11 off 22) and Ashutosh Sharma (39 off 28) did not come of any use to the hosts as they managed to barely cross the 140-run mark at the end of the innings. Anukul Roy and Kartik Tyagi were the pick of the bowlers as they picked up two wickets each, while Sunil Narine, Vaibhav Arora and Cameron Green bagged one each. Varun Chakravarthy, who was seen bowling in a desperate attempt to complete his four-over quota despite an apparent injury, went wicketless.
Allen seals the deal for KKR
In response, it took just 14.2 overs for KKR to chase down the meagre target set by DC. Finn Allen led the charge with a 47-ball hundred and slammed a six off the last delivery to not just breach the triple-figure mark but also to get his team across the line. The team did lose skipper Rahane and Raghuvanshi in the powerplay but has recovered well since then. A 116-run partnership between Green and Allen was enough for KKR to go across the line with ease. As a result, KKR now have 9 points to their name, while DC have slipped to the 8th position on the points table.
