Before the IPL Auctions, KKR perhaps had the best retentions — with Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Harshit Rana, and Ramandeep Singh making the cut. But the same cannot be said for KKR IPL 2025 squad, after the IPL Auction last month. They have visible chinks in their bowling unit. not much bench strength when it comes to batting — and most importantly don’t have a captain.
After Shreyas Iyer’s departure, the KKR management would have to choose someone from Rinku Singh, Venkatesh Iyer or even Ajinkya Rahane, to have a reputed skipper. How could the team let go Shreyas and Phil Salt — now at RCB, who performed so well for them. Now, their balance is disturbed for sure, and maybe could struggle at the IPL 2025. So, InsideSport takes a look at the best XI that KKR can field at IPL 2025.

Batting Looks Sorted with In-form Ajinkya Rahane
Luckily for them, Ajinkya Rahane has shown tremendous form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with scores of 95, 68 and 52, and might get the captaincy job, given his stature and experience. But his price of 1.50 Cr won’t be able to justify his role. So it will either have to Rinku or Venkatesh Iyer. Quinton De Kock could be a dark horse in this race too.
Harshit Rana, Sunil Narine & Who?
Spin responsibility in the team will be taken over by Varun Chakravarthy, who had 21 wickets in 15 matches last season, and Sunil Narine. As for the pacers, it really depends — if Umran Malik is fit, he makes it automatically, followed by Harshit Rana and Andre Russell. There isn’t much choice apart from that. South African Anrich Nortje is there too, but has struggled with fitness issues in the past.
