About Andre Russell

Andre Dwayne Russell (born 29 April 1988) is a Jamaican cricketer who has played international cricket for West Indies and for Jamaica in domestic cricket as an all-rounder. He currently plays in various T20 leagues around the world. Russell was part of 2012 and 2016 ICC World T20 winning West Indies teams. He has played in more than 300 T20 matches for a range of sides in leagues.

Records

  • Andre Russell is the only player to have taken four wickets in four balls in T20s. He did it against India A in 2013.
  • He has the fastest century in the Caribbean Premier League to his name with a 42-ball hundred against Trinbago Knight Riders in 2016 which he broke again in 2018 by hitting century in 40 balls

Career

Domestic career

Andre Russell made his domestic career debut for Jamaica back in the 2007 season at an age of 19. However, it was in the 2010 season when Russell showed his true prowess. He played for the Barnards Green Cricket Club in Worcestershire, England, and helped them get promoted to the Birmingham League cricket. He took 39 wickets at an average of 10.15 and also made 799 runs in 11 innings. He made his way to the West Indies A squad and smashed 61 off 34 balls with the bat and took 6/42 with the ball against Ireland in June 2010.
