Chasing a modest target of 166, SRH wrapped up the chase in a mere 9.4 overs. This emphatic performance highlights the team’s potent batting lineup, currently considered among the most feared in the IPL.

Travis Head, Sunrises Hyderabad batter, in the post-match press conference on SRH batting said:

“Yeah, very happy with how we operate in power play and also glad to see how we scored runs outside of power play today. At time out we spoke about NRR (Net Run Rate) being important. Very pleased that checked out.”

Opening partnership blows LSG Bowling

The foundation for this victory was laid in the powerplay, a phase where SRH has consistently dominated throughout the tournament. They amassed a staggering 107 runs in the powerplay itself, effectively sealing the match in the first six overs.

The LSG bowlers simply had no answer to the relentless assault by the SRH openers.

While their eight-run start may have caused a flicker of hope for LSG, the unleashing began in the second over. Abhishek Sharma’s four boundaries off Yash Thakur were just the beginning. Head joined the party in the third over, smashing three sixes and a four off K Gowtham. This onslaught forced LSG captain KL Rahul to introduce spin early, but Ravi Bishnoi proved equally ineffective. By the fifth over, Head had reached his blistering half-century, and the score had crossed 100.

In the post-match press conference, Travis Head praised his opening partner, highlighting Abhishek Sharma’s exceptional talent and calling him an “exciting talent for Indian cricket.”

“Abhishek Sharma is an exciting talent for Indian cricket, kind of exceptional. We kind of compliment each other. He is very very enjoyable to be around. He is very very excited and think about the game.”
