India women create history

The Indian Women’s cricket team has been in England since the end of May, and finally they have tasted some success here, as the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side went on to win the first ever Test at the Lord’s. And it was a convincing 270-run win to thwart the hosts, England on day 4 of the match, on Monday. It was a Test that will be remembered for a long time, as Yastika Bhatia and Kranti Gaud became the first ever players — in batting and bowling, to get their names up on the Lord’s honors board, in a women’s Test. CSK sack Stephen Fleming

Five-time champions CSK have axed New Zealand’s Stephen Fleming from the head coach role. This is for the very first time that he has been removed from that position in a tenure that lasted 17 years, having joined the support staff way back in 2009. Not just that, the Super Kings family have also axed him from other franchises’ head coach as well — in the SA20, Joburg Super Kings, and Texas Super Kings in MLC. Read more here.

SKY’s T20I return not ruled out

Former  former India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav was first removed from captaincy, and then completely axed from the side. But after heavy losses against IRE and ENG, it seems that the doors on him might not be closed, after all. As per a report in ANI, the 35-year-old can still make a comeback to the national side. As per a BCCI source, Suryakumar Yadav has not been ruled out completely from making a comeback, and remains in contention, given he performs in domestic cricket. Read more here.

Brendon McCullum’s romantic exit

Brendon McCullum didn’t step down as the head coach of the England men’s cricket team in Test cricket. He was sacked. Stokes and McCullum changed Test cricket. They surely made it a bit more exciting with their approach. The former New Zealand batter has revealed that Stokes pinged him after the news became official. McCullum feels poetic and kind of romantic that they both started things together and go out together as well. Read more here.

Selection questions for ENG vs IND 1st ODI

The one-day internationals are back. So are Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, and this time, Jasprit Bumrah also plays. Well, in fact, Bumrah will be seen playing the format for the first time since the infamous November 19, 2023 when India lost the ODI World Cup final to Australia. So, that bit will be watched carefully. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill would love to have his maiden series win in overseas conditions as ODI captain. But that won’t be easy at all since England will be riding on huge confidence after thrashing India 4-0. Read more here.
