Team India has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ongoing three-match one-day international series against England. The star of the match was, of course, captain Rohit Sharma, who roared back to form in some style and ruthelessness. He was at his best, hammering the English bowlers all around the Cuttack ground and taking India to an easy win. Meanwhile, earlier in the game, England had another injury concern, which should also make the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans. Moreover, by the end of the day, we had terrific news regarding the fitness of Jasprit Bumrah. On that note, let us look at the top cricketing stories from February 9.

Worry for RCB!

Bad news for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)! Their new recruit, Jacob Bethell, has picked up a hamstring injury and is doubtful for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. Bethell, who was bought by RCB for Rs 2.60 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction, had a great outing in the first ODI against India, scoring a fifty. But now, he’s been ruled out of the remaining ODIs against India and his participation in the Champions Trophy is also under a cloud. This is definitely a worry for RCB! JASPRIT BUMRAH UPDATE!

Hold your breath, Indian fans! Jasprit Bumrah, who’s been out with a back injury, is expected to play in the ICC Champions Trophy. Despite initial concerns that he might miss the group stage matches, a BCCI official has confirmed that Bumrah will be fit for the “big games” in the tournament. This likely means he’ll play in the semifinals if India qualifies, or possibly even earlier. This could also mean that he misses the first game against Bangladesh and plays the India vs Pakistan tie on Feb 23. The BCCI is being cautious with Bumrah’s workload, realising that overusing him could lead to further injuries.
