‘Don’t lose to India’: Mohammad Rizwan reveals Ramiz Raja’s appeal to Pakistan team

Pakistan have a dismal record against India in ICC tournaments. The team has managed to defeat India only once in ICC tournaments, in 2021.

An India vs Pakistan tie is one of the most pressure games any cricketer can witness. The whole world gears up for an IND vs PAK tie. More than a match, it is matter of pride. Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan recently revealed that before Pakistan beat India in the T20 World Cup in 2021, former cricketer Ramiz Raja had asked the team specifically to not lose to India.

Ramiz Raja was only focused about beating India: Rizwan

India vs Pakistan always invokes pressure. People from every country watch this match. When we beat India in the 2021 T20 World Cup, we didn’t realise it was such a big deal until we came back to Pakistan. People didn’t take money from us when we went out shopping. Ramiz Raja ingrained this thing in our mind that we have to beat India. When the match came close, he said, ‘Doesn’t matter if you win the World Cup or not, just don’t lose to India’,” Rizwan said during an event.

Pakistan’s far-from-ideal record against India in ICC events

Pakistan have a dismal record against India in ICC tournaments. The team has managed to defeat India only once in ICC tournaments, in 2021. In T20 World Cups, India have faced Pakistan 7 times, with the former winning six of those ties.

Another IND vs PAK match awaits cricket lovers on 9th June, can Pakistan pull off a major upset? It is certainly something Ramiz Raja would be hoping for.
