Ever since the report of Rohit Sharma's retirement surfacing, his family too seems to have to reached London for his final match.

It seems that the reports of Rohit Sharma’s international retirement are true, after all. Now, as per a tweet by Sports Now’s Ankan Kar, chief selector Ajit Agarkar has checked into the team hotel in London, ahead of, what is termed as the 39-year-old’s final ODI appearance at Lord’s.

What now gives this a ‘confirmed’ look is, as per Crex, Rohit’s parents have flown to London as well, for the same India vs England match on July 19. The news of Rohit’s retirement broke out mid-way during the second ODI, that India went on to lose eventually by four wickets.

What came as a surprise was, as per Indian Express, Rohit wanted to continue playing for Team India, but the selection panel was keen on getting in more youngsters, keeping in mind the World Cup 2027. In fact, his childhood coach Dinesh Lad said that the veteran players should indeed be looking to play in the World Cup next year, and that bad form is just temporary.

End of the road for Rohit Sharma

The Mumbaikar has endured a tough year so far, in the only format he plays for Team India now. He has played 8 matches, where he has just one fifty, that too at an average of 30. In the two matches against England also, his struggles were visible too. And after Lord’s, it could very well just come to an end for him.

Perhaps this could be the correct decision as well, looking at how Yashasvi Jaiswal has gone on to perform in the limited opportunities he has got. In 6 matches so far, Jaiswal has two tons to his name, and has scored 285 runs at an average of 71.25. In fact, in his last ODI vs Afghanistan, he went on to score an unbeaten 110, in Chennai, only growing the calls for his selection.
