Alex Hales

One of the main architects of England’s T20 World Cup win in 2022 was Alex Hales. Alex came in as a replacement for Jonny Bairstow in the last T20 World Cup edition. He utilized the opportunity by forming solid opening partnerships, mostly with Jos Buttler. In 212 runs in six matches in the last World Cup edition. His 86-run innings against India in the second semifinal still pricks like a nail for all Indian fans.

In 2023, he announced that he was not going to play international cricket anymore. Having played 75 T20 matches in his whole international career, he has scored 2074 runs with a strike rate of 139. The kind of attacking batting ability he possessed, England will surely miss this opener in their camp.

Dawid Malan

Malan is another player who is not in the 15-man squad that the ECB recently announced for the T20 World Cup 2024. In 2022, he was considered the most dangerous batter, but unfortunately, he had a forgettable T20 World Cup. Since then, he has not been really considered in the England camp, his poor form was the main reason he didn’t make it into the World Cup squad.

He is known for his aggressive batting style and adaptability according to the situation. However, he is also a player who, unfortunately, has been left out of the World Cup squad this time. Despite the kind of batting prowess he has, Even after his string of bad performances, he still deserved a place because of his hard-hitting ability, but he was also out of the room this time.

Chris Woakes

Woakes’s omission from the squad came across as the most bold step by the ECB. As there was a lot of anticipation around his name, with many people wanting to see this all-rounder.

The anticipation around his name primarily because of his bowling abilities. As he was seen as the backup bowler to Jofra Archer. Instead of him, Mark Wood got the call this time. The 35-year-old all-rounder has played 33 T20I matches, and as a bowler, he took 31 wickets with a decent economy of 8.07.
