The upcoming open-world survival MMO, Dune: Awakening, unveiled new gameplay footage during a livestream by developer Funcom. This long-awaited title, set in the harsh desert world of Arrakis. It takes inspiration from the popular book and movie franchise. Check out the footage below:
Dune Awakening gives glimpse of game environment
The 25-minute showcase, titled “Surviving Arrakis,” gave players a glimpse of:
- The unforgiving desert environment
- Hostile forces vying for control
- The coveted spice, essential for interstellar travel
- The terrifying sandworms, a constant threat
Players will explore the vast landscape, build bases, scavenge resources, and battle enemies while evading the monstrous sandworms.
Developed using the powerful Unreal Engine 5, Dune: Awakening promises stunning visuals. Creative Director Joel Bylos assures fans that the game stays true to the source material. Players will wield iconic Dune weaponry and even learn special abilities like those possessed by the Bene Gesserit sisterhood.
